Unorthodox Studios

Unorthodox Studios is a private studio run by the artist Chalice Bartsch-Bailley. Life drawing sessions are open to the public Thursday Nights from 7 pm to 10 pm. Located on the outskirts of NoDa Charlotte at 3224 Benard Ave, Studio C, 28206.

There is also an etching press that is available to rent $10 dollars per hour. This press measures 20"W x 40"L, and can work with wood, linoleum, copper, or zinc plates. Please contact the artist directly for more details on availability or click here.

Our figure sessions last 180 min. The routine is Ten 30 sec warm ups, followed by Five 1 min warm ups, then One 5 min warm up. For the rest of the evening we settle into one pose for Five 20 min sessions a piece. There is a 10 min break after every session for the model to stretch, artists to refill their beverage, and to take out the studio dog. If the model comes late, than the clock starts late. We pay our life models $20 an hour because we only charge $10 per artist.

Supplies available: For the models, there is a selection of chairs, a private stage, some fun props (including swords), clean sheets, and a rang of pillows. For the artists, we offer a variety of easels, papers (for an additional cost or the next beer run), drawing boards, electric pencil sharpener, and erasers. Some artists just want to draw, drink, smoke, and chat. If that is what you are looking for on a weekly bases, then you found the right place. This is not a place that gives unsolicited instructions or advice. Questions of any nature at any time are welcomed with open arms, especially if it involves the music choice, model poses, or cocktail for the evening. When we set a time for a break, but someone wants to grab a drink or finish their smoke - we vote as a group adding a min to the break and/or the pose. This is a place where whom ever has the ‘worst’ drawing of the night, will get a pat on the back and free beer for trying their best. Professionalism is welcomed, creativity and silliness is required.

Pink Knickers

May 1st, 2015: Cabela Allure Salon is pleased to announce the opening of a group exhibition at 24 W Henry St. Savannah, GA 31401 from May 1st through May 29th, 2015. The opening reception will be on Friday, May 1st from 6 to 9 pm.

The group exhibition, pink knickers, features the artists, Erica Luedtke, Stephanie Codd, Julie Ann Miller, and Chalice Bartsch-Bailey. The exhibition explores different types of intimacy and femininity. Luedtke's work explores the visual display of time and interconnectedness. Connecting her own human decision with the natural unknown of how elements will react to create harmonious interactions the seem to have their own energy and breath. Miller draws on the energy exchanged during human interactions. The push and pull of ink simulates relationships, noting that no one ever leaves such an encounter unchanged, and that change is beautiful. Cobb's work deals with the relationship we have to nature and the conflicts that arise. Her work is neither here nor there, male or female, or anywhere on a scale or spectrum. Bartsch-Bailley combines enamel and acrylics mixed with different water temperatures to create an abstract terrain on raw canvas.

There will be an opening reception with food and beverages on Friday, May 1st starting at 6 pm located at 24 W Henry St. Savannah, GA 31401, Cabela Allure Salon.
